Messengers from the Heart of God

Messengers from the Heart of God
The Divine Circle Dance (Perichoresis)
The circle of fellowship the Holy Trinity enjoyed from eternity was perfect in itself, requiring that nothing further be added to complete it.
  • Genesis 1:26-27
Yet, out of a heartfelt desire to expand the circle, God created beings in His own image and likeness.
  • Genesis 2:18
Expansion seems to be implicit in God’s idea of the circle.
  • Genesis 3:8-9
Even when the circle gets broken by sin, God still seeks to restore it.
Love for Strangers (Philoxenia)
The direction and movement and range of the mission from the heart of God are expressed as hospitality.
  • Romans 12:3
  • Hebrews 13:1-2
Hospitality means, “love for strangers.”
  • Luke 15:11-32
Sin is an alien and alienating element of our existence. But in Christ, God welcomes the stranger and the estranged, the alien and the alienated.
  • Leviticus 19:34
  • Ephesians 2:11-21
  • 1 Peter:2:1-2
Once we were strangers. But the cross crosses all boundaries and transforms foreigners into God’s own people.
